Writing this story has been an emotional roller coaster. Reading about the Horrific beating and torture of little Scott McMillan has literally brought me to tears and leaves me with the same question with those who are trying to make sense of this. Why would God allow such an American Horror Story to happen to a little three year old? Announcing the charges on Thursday, Chester County District Attorney Thomas Hogan said: ‘Let me tell you about an American horror story. Little Scotty McMillan is dead.

‘Over a three-day period… he was systematically tortured and beaten to death. He was punched in the face and in the stomach, he was scourged with a homemade whip, he was lashed with a metal rod, he was tied to a chair and beaten, he was tied upside down by his feet and beaten, his head was smashed through a wall and at the end of that he had bruises on top of bruises all over his body.’

‘When his body went into the emergency room our ER nurses — who see a lot of terrible things — when they saw his body, they wept.’

Holding back tears he said: ‘Say a prayer for little Scott McMilan. The brief nightmare that was his life is over.

Hogan said that his office would seek the death penalty against both defendants in the case.“I promise you that, though the heavens may fall, justice will be done to these defendants.” He said the factors used to seek the death penalty were the victim’s age — under 12 years old — and the allegation that he was tortured.

I have quoted just a brief description of little Scott’s suffering. I have refused to describe the rest of his torture out of respect for him. The story was too much for me to handle. The ironic part of the story was where the little child lived. The street was called Hope Lane. The boyfriend and girlfriend committed an unspeakable act of depravity. These Soulless monsters committed a heinous act that will bring the wrath of the Pennsylvania justice system upon them. The unfathomable torture of a child makes us question the existence of God. It drives us to seek answers and ask, Why would God Allow people to suffer, especially children? We notice that when these things  happen people are more incline to question his sovereignty and his goodness. Why would a loving God  allow such evil acts. The answer to that question is Sin and and death. We are under penalty of sin. All of us must taste death before being brought to life again. writes: At the same time that God judged sin with death, He withdrew some of His sustaining power. Everything is running down because of sin. God has given us a taste of life without Him—a world full of violence, death, suffering, and disease. If God withdrew all of His sustaining power, the creation would cease to exist. Colossians 1:16–17 tells us that all things are held together, right now, by the power of the Creator, the Lord Jesus Christ (cf. Hebrews 1:3). However, in one sense He is not holding it together perfectly, as He is deliberately letting things fall apart to give us a taste of what life is like without God. In other words, God is allowing us to experience what we wanted—life without God (cf. Romans 1:18–32).

'American horror story': Scott McMillan, three, was tortured for weeks and beaten with a frying pan until he eventually died, prosecutors in Pennsylvania have said

You see Suffering doesn’t have a positive purpose. The thing is, it has many. It prevents us from hurting ourselves, drives us to think of others, reminds us of our limits, and creates consequences for our actions.  Sometimes those consequences are borne by others, sometimes by ourselves. Suffering makes the reality that we change the world inescapable. Remember Jesus suffered so that he could relate with us with that very concept. I promise you that little Scott is suffering no more. He is in heaven getting his tears wiped away by our God and showing us that there is hope in the midst of this tragedy. Where is that hope you ask? It is in me writing this story to give you hope that not all is lost. It is in his brother who has just been saved from these monsters. It is in all those seeking God  for answers. A murder like this brings out the questions we want answers to and drives us closer to God in the midst of tragedy. This may not be the answer we may  all want, but Jesus said we would suffer   in John 16:33, “You will have suffering in this world.” He didn’t say you might – he said it is going to happen. Take comfort knowing God could have prevented Jesus from suffering when he was being ripped apart and being hung on the cross. Jesus suffered and endured these  things, only to be  restored after he came back to life. This is the promise for you and me and the promise for little Scott. His parents committed and unspeakable act. They better pray that they find God because the wrath of the Pennsylvania system isn’t the only thing  that is awaiting them. They still have to meet our creator  at the judgement seat to explain their actions. When they do something more horrific will await them  and a second death will be waiting in the wings.  Revelation 21:8 – But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Such a heard breaking story. I’m sure it makes many wonder why God would allow such a thing. You did a great job in describing why these things happen. We live in a fallen world where Satan is the god of this world now because of sin, but God in his time will take it back and things like this will never happen again.

Thanks for replying Harley. The minute I put this article up my stats were showing searches for why did God let this happen to little Scott. The whole story literally made e sick to my stomach. I hope people were able to get some hope of what I wrote for this precious little child. His parents will still have to come face to face with our judge and it wont be pretty
